Maggot rigs

Postby cruet on Wed Feb 25, 2009 4:42 pm

Been reading up alot lately on maggot rigs and is something i will try soon, just wondering how many of you have used and not been bothered by smaller fish etc?
i have got a session at thorpe lea runs water in march so am going to test a few there but its not like most lakes with other fish in, if you have used how has it been most productive for you?

ive used it a fair bit but unless it carp only water the other fish are normaly first to it give it a go you will soon no weather to stop using it as the alarm wont stop beeping from the smaller fish pulling at it lol some thing i have been doing alot this winter is putting your boilie on as normal mut then getting a needle and thread and sliding 7-8 maggots on to thread n tieing it on end of hair almost as a stop then pulling boilie to it giving the boilie a funky hair do lol gives bait movment and catches carps eye but is to big for the smaller fish bit fidely but worth the effott used it on bottom baits and pop ups [marc]

ya i had a few this winter using it i think when using it with pop up as well all the carp see is the maggots but coz of the boile the little fish cant eat it. i did catch a perch of about 1lb when i done that with the chod proper good take as well lol the maggots moving n bright red boilie must of made it attack was funny but no other fish except carp give it a go and let me no how you get on could be just that little edge on the lake that others wont have [marc]
